Although not a working farm, we do have some friendly sheep, horses. dogs and cats, and children are welcome to help feed the animals each evening. At Barritshayes you’re assured of a warm welcome, comfortable rooms and a hearty breakfast. We endeavour to use local, organic produce when possible.
The Dairy and The Granary are adjoining barn cottages forming one side of an open courtyard with the walled and gated heated outdoor swimming pool opposite. They both have stunning views to the rear over the lawns and tennis court to the hills beyond and small enclosed gardens with tables, chairs and barbeques from which to sit and take in the vista.
Each cottage can accommodate four people in two bedrooms plus a sofa bed for a fifth person. They provide an excellent standard of comfort and modern facilities with all the character of an old cottage. They are equipped to a high standard with central heating, electric hob, microwave combination oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, tv/dvd, hi-fi. The gardens each have a barbeque and garden furniture and there is a large parking area.
Swallows is our brand new log cabin and a great hideaway for two. Equipped with every comfort it’s in a superb private location with fabulous views. Accommodation consists of one double bedroom, en suite shower room, living room with kitchen and dining area, sunny paved patio with barbeque, table, chairs and loungers, storage area with washing machine, and parking. An absolutely ideal retreat for couples in an idyllic location. It’s cosy for the winter too, with electric log burning stove. Swallows has been built to a high standard, has excellent insulation and double glazing.

Our bed and breakfast guests enjoy all the same facilities as our cottage guests (see ‘Pool and Facilities’ page). Barritshayes is set in 8 acres of grounds and paddocks and guests are welcome to walk around and take in the wonderful views which surround us.
Access Statement
A level gravelled parking area leads onto a slightly sloping concrete driveway, off which are hard pathways to both cottages. There are two steps up to both cottages.
Internally, The Granary is split level with five steps up from the Living room (first level) to Kitchen/Dining Area, hallway and Bathroom. A staircase leads to a third level and Bedroom 1 and further steps up from that landing lead to Bedroom 2.
The Dairy has Living/Dining/Kitchen on the ground floor and staircase to landing, off which is Bedroom 1, Bedroom 2 and Shower room.
The gardens and grounds immediately around the cottages are level lawns with some raised stone beds and low walls fronting on to the driveway. There are two steps from the driveway up to the swimming pool area. The Games Room is on a level with the parking area.
Swallows accommodation is on the ground floor. Parking is on level concrete with a slope up to a small level bridge. There is a shallow step into the cabin and the interior is on one level. There is a level paved and gravelled patio.
